1. Shread 7-8 slices of preferably"aged"(1-2 days old) bread. Sprinkle water mixed with a tsp each of salt and sugar.
2. Splutter 1tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1/4tsp Asafoetida, 1/4 tsp turmeric, 1 green chilli & 8-9 curry leaves in 2tsp oil.
3. Add 1 diced onion and saute till pink. Add the bread, sprinkle with little milk, fresh cilantro & grated coconut.
Skip the milk if the bread is fresh. Best enjoyed with barik sev.
For Batata Pohe - Replace bread with Pohe & boiled potato. Skip cumin, asofoetida & milk.

ReplyDeletethere is then policha kuskara also with half smashed tomatoes.. khatarnak lagaycha... with that tomatoish taste on the polich kuskara....
Ive had it! But this "usli" tastes differnt than kaskara. The Bread makes it slightly sweet and is no way trying to mask the flavour of bread itself, which is unlike kuskara.
